This year's installment of the Bartonville Idol kicked off with a new twist, bang and a roar.  In years past, contestants of the Bartonville Idol were judged in much the same way as contestants on American Idol.  Charlie Schneider and Bill Myers, owners of BG Karaoke Saloon, took hold of the Idol reigns this year on their own.  Among some minor operational changes, Bill and Charlie wanted to provide a totally unique experience to the Central Illinois karaoke scene.  As of this year, qualifying contestants will be selected by the public as a whole.  Not just the local public, not just Illinois, not just the United States - we're talking world-wide voting!
